Thanks for the kind words yesterday -- I mostly kept busy knitting and watching Doctor Who during the day, and then had a bit of a crying fit on Jeff's shoulder at bedtime. It just sneaks up on me, you know?

I'm estranged from my own father -- I haven't spoken to him since December of 2000. And it really doesn't bother me anymore -- he is an abusive, manipulative asshole, and I'm very glad he's out of my life. With any luck, I'll never have to see him again.

But I've been crying off and on today, because it's the first Father's Day that I haven't had my Grandpa to send a card to, and to call. I didn't expect it to hit me this hard, but it's like a kick in the stomach. I miss him so much.

So, thanks to the suggestion from the fabulous [personal profile] llcoolvad, we have movers! Movers that will not be charging us an insane amount of money! We're a bit more than halfway done packing, I think -- considering how much crap we've gotten rid of, we're in good shape. I'll just be glad when it's over...

Holy CRAP.

So, since the woman in our new apartment isn't moving out until Sunday, the 29th, we're a little screwed. Jeff has the Monday off, but I really doubt I can take the day off work. Even if I could, I'm nowhere near strong enough to move the furniture up a flight of stairs.

So, I emailed Gentle Giant for an estimate to move the couch, mattress, two desks, a small washer and dryer, and maybe a bookcase. I just heard back: $986.25. Almost a thousand dollars?! We're moving about eight blocks! That's more than the furniture is worth! Gah.

Hey, anyone in the greater Boston area feel like helping us move? We'll feed you! (No, really, I'm serious! Help would be awesome!)

My sweet cousin Ashley has been sick for months. Cough, fever, fatigue, etc.... her doctors recently found a tissue mass in her right lung, and today she got the diagnosis -- she has lymphoma.

I don't know what this means. I only know that she's only 22 years old, and that her doctors are apparently not very optimistic.

Please, please -- if you pray, will you pray for her? Send warm thoughts, anything. She's so young.

I have my annual job review tomorrow at noon, and I suspect it is going to be very ugly. My boss already gave me her written portion, and... it's very, very negative. I don't know why -- I've taken on more work this year, and done a good job handling it, but she has nothing good to say about me at all. Plus, some of the things she put in are just not true at all -- accounts of things that never happened.

I am very scared. I don't handle confrontations well, but I know I need to stick up for myself, and stand my ground. I'm just so scared, I haven't been able to sleep the past couple of nights, and my anxiety attacks are going through the roof. I need help dealing with this, because God, it is scary and bad.

I don't know if I can do this. I hope I have a job this tikme tomorrow. I don't know what's gone wrong or how to fix it. I can't help but think that I'm really just the most awful person alive, and I don't know it.

I just went to wash my hands after eating lunch, and discovered that someone PEED ON THE FLOOR in the women's restroom. Not a little "Oops, missed the pot!" A huge puddle. On the floor. NEXT to the toilet. And splashed all over the toilet and the wall.

This is a college library. You'd figure the women using it would at least be toilet-trained!
